My name is Sarah, and I was born and raised in Charleston, South Carolina. I’m now rooted in Austin, Texas, and take jobs nationwide. I’m a certified postpartum doula through ICEA, approved by Carrot, and CPR certified by the Red Cross. I started babysitting when I was twelve and have spent over a decade working with children, from preschools and nature camps to supporting newborns and families through their first weeks at home.
I was inspired to become certified in this line of work after a friend told me she could barely remember her baby’s first month because she was so exhausted. That broke my heart. I’ve always cherished the sacred bond that can be shared with a newborn, and it made me realize how much families need real, nurturing support during that time.
One of my first newborn jobs was with a family in San Francisco, where I lived with them and provided overnight care and in-hospital support during recovery. That experience taught me how deeply personal and sacred the postpartum period can be when families feel safe, rested, and cared for.
To me, being a postpartum doula isn’t simply acting as a night nanny. It is about holistic care and tending to the emotional, physical, and practical needs of the entire family.
Outside of work, I love being in nature as much as possible. I enjoy swimming, reading, and if I’m on my phone, I’m probably playing chess. I have lived abroad and backpacked through Asia as well. While I don’t have pets due to my work schedule and love for travel, I absolutely adore animals just as much as I do babies.
Thank you for taking the time to read about me. I truly hope I’m able to support you and your family in some way. If I’m not the right match, please feel free to visit my Referrals Page for links to other trusted doulas I’ve come to love in the Austin area.
